Petitions: Group Raise Alarm Over NDDC MD/Board Members Flouting President Tinubu Order On Dissolution Of Parastatals, Govt Agencies

21st July 2023
His Excellency,
Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
President and Commander in Chief of the armed forces,
Federal Republic of Nigeria

Dear Sir,
AN OPEN PETITION ON THE FLOUTING OF PRESIDENT’S ORDER ON DISSOLUTION OF PARASTATALS AND AGENCIES OF GOVERNMENT
The Niger Delta Anti-Corruption Network, hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. we write to you as concerned citizens of Nigeria, to bring to your attention a matter of grave importance regarding the flouting of your order on the dissolution of parastatal and agencies of the government.
It has come to our attention that the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and heads of other government agencies and parastatal has been reinstated through what appears to be a backdoor arrangement, contrary to your explicit order for the dissolution of parastatal and agencies of the government. This action not only undermines the authority of the presidency but also raises concerns about the integrity of the decision-making process within our government.

As loyal citizens, working under the platform of the Niger Delta Anti-Corruption Network, a civil society network, we place our trust in the leadership of our great nation to ensure that the highest standards of governance and accountability are upheld. It is disheartening to witness the subversion of your directives, as it erodes the confidence of the people in the government’s commitment to transparency and adherence to the rule of law.
We, the members of the Niger Delta Anti-Corruption Network, respectfully request your urgent intervention in addressing this matter and ensuring that the order for the dissolution of parastatal and agencies of the government is strictly adhered to. You will recall that, the Niger Delta Development Commission since establishment, has misappropriated over six trillion naira with over thirteen thousand eight hundred abandoned projects which could have turned the region around.

Additionally, we implore you to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reinstatement of the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, members of his management Teams, other heads of parastatals and heads of agencies and hold accountable those responsible for this breach of your directive.
We also support the 5 day ultimatum given by the Niger Delta ex agitators, that those who used the back door to go back to office especially in the Niger Delta Development Commission should vacate the office immediately or face mass action.
We believe that by taking decisive action to rectify this situation, you will reaffirm your commitment to the principles of good governance, fight corruption and restore the faith of the Nigerian people in the government’s ability to protect their interests.
We eagerly await your response and thank you for your attention to this pressing matter.
Yours faithfully,
