Whitehouse Officially Joins Israeli- Iran Conflict, Strikes 3 Key Fortified Nuclear Sites

In a dramatic escalation of the Middle East conflict, the United States has joined Israel’s military offensive by launching coordinated airstrikes on Iran’s most fortified nuclear sites early Sunday, targeting Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

President Donald Trump, in a national address, announced that the operation had “completely and fully obliterated” key components of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

“This is a historic moment for the United States of America, Israel, and the world,” Trump said.
“Iran must now agree to end this war. Thank you!”

According to U.S. defense officials, B-2 stealth bombers dropped GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators on the Fordow facility—widely considered nearly impenetrable due to its underground location—while U.S. Navy submarines launched over 30 Tomahawk missiles at additional nuclear infrastructure in Isfahan and Natanz.

President Trump confirmed the strikes on his Truth Social platform, stating:

“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran… A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home.”

This marks the first-ever combat use of the GBU-57 bunker-buster bomb, capable of burrowing 200 feet underground before detonation.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization acknowledged the sites had been struck but claimed there were no casualties or radiation leaks. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed no rise in radiation levels.

“There has been no increase in off-site radiation levels,” the IAEA stated on X.

However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that the attacks would have “everlasting consequences,” and said Iran “reserves all options” for retaliation.

Though Trump acted without congressional approval, he insisted the decision was “necessary and justified” to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

“There will either be peace or there will be tragedy for Iran,” Trump warned.
“Any retaliation will be met with a more aggressive response.”

He blamed the failure of diplomacy for the escalation, arguing that Iran could produce a bomb on short notice, despite U.S. intelligence agencies not finding evidence of active nuclear weaponization.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the U.S. strike, calling it a bold and historic action.

“Your bold decision to target Iran’s nuclear facilities, with the awesome and righteous might of the United States, will change history,” Netanyahu said in a video message.

Israel also shut its airspace following the strike, citing security concerns. Air travel across the Middle East has since been severely disrupted.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reportedly operating from a secure underground bunker, has named three successors in case of assassination. His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was notably excluded from the shortlist.

“Strikes targeting the Islamic Republic will result in irreparable damage for them,” Khamenei had warned earlier last week.

In anticipation of further attacks, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry has directed senior officials to avoid electronic communication and remain underground.

The conflict is rapidly expanding. Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have threatened to resume attacks on U.S. ships in the Red Sea.

“If the U.S. joins Israel militarily, we will return to targeting American interests,” a Houthi spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres expressed alarm:

“There is a growing risk that this conflict could rapidly get out of control, with catastrophic consequences for civilians, the region, and the world.”

Trump’s strike comes seven years after he withdrew from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, calling it “the worst deal ever.” Despite pledging a tougher alternative, no new agreement was reached. His direct military intervention now replaces stalled diplomacy with force.

One senior U.S. official told the Associated Press:

“The Israelis say their offensive crippled Iran’s air defenses. That gave our bombers the opening they needed.”

Iran has responded with over 470 ballistic missiles and 1,000 drones targeting Israel in recent weeks, killing dozens and injuring hundreds.

The unfolding events signal a turning point with global consequences, as the U.S. commits to its boldest military action in the region in years, raising the stakes for a full-scale regional war.
