100- Level Student Found Dead in Boyfriend’s House

A 100-level female student from the Department of Mass Communication, Taraba State University (TSU) Jalingo, Comfort Jimtop, has been found dead in a house suspected to be her boyfriend’s residence.

Comfort, an indigene of Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, was found lifeless in bed in the early hours of yesterday, Friday, September 12, 2025.

Sources said the incident happened in a compound where 15 tenants, including her boyfriend, lived. All the occupants reportedly abandoned the house immediately after the discovery.
Although the circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, a senior police officer, who is among those conducting investigation into the matter, told our correspondent that empty bottles of hard drinks were found beside the bed where she died.

“By the time the matter was reported to our station which is located at the gate of the university, on our arrival, nobody was found in the house which has over 15 tenants.

“The owner of the room, who is believed to be the boyfriend of the deceased was not also found and is at large.

“We found empty bottles of hard drinks beside the bed where she died, we are currently undergoing investigation into the incident”, the police man said on condition of anonymity.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in Taraba, ASP Leshen James, said efforts were underway to track down the boyfriend, identified as Emmanuel Shata, and other tenants.

“When our men arrived at the residence, nobody was found. The boyfriend and other tenants had abandoned the house,” James told journalists.

He added that an investigation had begun to uncover the cause of Comfort’s death.

“We are working hard to locate the boyfriend and the fleeing tenants. A thorough investigation will be carried out to determine what happened,” James said. (Pieced together from reports by National Accord and Daily Post)
