Gunmen Storms Supermarket, Kidnaps Female Owner In Porthacourt

Gunmen suspected to be Kidnappers on Friday 7 July,2023 abducted a business woman known as Mrs Onyi Ugba at Okija street, Mile 2 Diobu Porthacourt at about 6:40pm we learnt.

We gathered that the gunmen who were about five in number and heavily armed, stormed the Superstore of Mrs Ugba located at Umuoji junction/Okija street to demand that the business woman hand over to them, all the money she made from sales for the day.

The source said the gunmen got infuriated when the woman could not provide enough money which made the criminals to change their plan from robbery to abducting her .

We learnt that people scampered to safety as the gunmen shot sporadically while whisking Mrs Ugba away. Personnel of Mile 1 Police Diobu, however, arrived the scene minutes after the hoodlums have left.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the incident to our reporter.

SP Koko disclosed that efforts are in top gear by the Police to rescue the victim unhurt and ensure the arrest of the perpetrators while adding that investigation is ongoing.

Recall that in the month of December,2022 suspected armed robbers robbed Mrs Ugba of huge amount of money running into millions when they stormed her Superstore at the same Okija street.

The incident was reported to Mile 1 Police Division but the suspects are yet to be arrested before the latest incident on Friday.
