Mr. George Sibo, a member of one of the leading parties in Bayelsa State, has been killed at the collation center in Twon-Brass, Brass local government area of the state.
The deceased popularly called “Kobo-Kobo” was an aide to the Brass Local Government Chairman, Hanson Alabo-Karika.
An indigene of Twon-Brass, who was married with children, was attacked when thugs invaded the collation center
Eyewitnesses told Daily Trust that the deceased was murdered at the Collation Centre when results for some wards in the constituency were being submitted.
Reacting to the incident, lawmaker representing Brass Constituency l, Dr. Daniel Charles, expressed sadness over the “gruesome murder of a vibrant and hardworking young man by desperate power seekers”.
He urged security agents to immediately arrest and prosecute perpetrators of the dastardly act.
When contacted, Police spokesman in Bayelsa state, CSP Asinim Butswat, said he was awaiting details from the Police Area Commander of Brass.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier raised the alarm that its officials were held hostage in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
“The Commission said in a statement on its verified X platform.
“We call on the security agencies to immediately facilitate their release,” the commission said.

Earlier on Saturday, Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri, accused the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timipre Sylva, of being behind electoral violence recorded in the Nembe-Bassambiri area of the state.
Diri, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the poll, is seeking re-election for another four years in office.
