A Man simply identified as Udohika said to be 45 year old is being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID),Portharcourt for alleged sexual assault on a two year old girl at Gada Street, Ogbu-nabali, Portharcourt.
Dependable sources told our correspondent that the Man who is an electronic technician and shares a store with someone in the street allegedly lures the 2 year old girl whenever the person he(Udohika) is sharing the store with goes out.
We learnt that the father of the little girl became aware of her predicament when she started complaining of pains in her vagina as he was bathing her.
Upon interrogation, the little girl demonstrated her Brother(Udohika) allegedly use to touch and rob her vagina in his store when nobody is around. The child also took her father to identify the shop which is located at the front of their compound.
We further learnt that the father of the girl who lost his wife during the birth of the two year old child, made a formal complainant at Old GRA Police Division and personnel of the Division effected the arrest of the suspect last week Friday.
Speaking on the incident, a rights advocate and National Coordinator of Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign, Prince Wiro said “the Police should carry out a thorough and unbiased investigation to ascertain the veracity of the claims made by the father of the child as information available suggest the suspect denied the allegation against him.
“If the suspect is found culpable in course of investigation, he should be made to face the law”.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
SP Koko said the suspect has been transferred to State CIID, Portharcourt for discreet investigation .
