Youths Send SOS To Rivers CP As Suspected Cultist On Rampage Kills Two More Persons

Gunmen suspected to be cultists on Monday killed two persons at Odiokwu junction in Ula-Ehuda,in Igbu Akoh-Kingdon, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State barely twenty -four hours after five persons were killed in Edeoha Community,Upata kingdom in Ahoada East LGA.

The Public Relations Officer of Igbu-Akoh kingdom,Hector Chinem in an interview with Journalists on Monday disclosed that on Sunday night(October 20th,2024) natives observed movement of some persons dressed in coverall and military rain wear, only for natives to to wake up on Monday morning (October 21,2024) to see dead bodies of two youths riddled with bullets.

The spokesperson for the Igbu-Akoh kingdom regretted that the killing is coming barely twenty -hours after five persons were killed in Edeoha community.

Mr Chinem called on the Rivers State Commissioner of Police,CP Mohammed Mustapha to as a matter of urgency strengthen security of the area as the remnants of cult groups have invaded the communities.

Mr Chinem equally pleaded with Youth of the LGA to lay down their arms and allow peace reign.

As at Monday afternoon,reports available to us indicates that there is heightened tension in the LGA as some natives have started fleeing.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko was yet to respond to the Monday killing.

SP Koko had on Sunday,October 20th,2024 confirmed the killing at Edeoha saying is cult related.SP Koko added that the Commissioner of Police,CP Mohammed Mustapha had directed the Ahoada Area Commander and the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Ahoada Police Division to commence investigation into the incident with a view to apprehending the Perpetrators .

As at presstime,we gathered that the family of the deceased has taken the corpse for burial.
