NSCDC Discovers A Residential Premises In Elelewon Community Used For Storage Of Illegal Refined Petroleum Products

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC has discovered a residential premises used in storing illegally refined petroleum products in Rivers State.

The illegal storage facility located at Elelewo community in Obio/Akpor Local government area contains large storage tanks and cans filled with illegally refined petroleum products.

NSCDC State Commandant, Rivers State, Joachim Okafor who led a team of personnel to the illegal storage site, explained that the discovery by the Commandโ€™s Anti-Vandal Unit, was through the deployment of the Corpโ€™s latest illegal crude oil theft technology tracker.

Commandant Joachim Okafor said aside from its negative impact on the nationโ€™s economy, the activities of crude oil thieves are causing serious environmental hazards and health issues to the people.
