A man simply identified as Mr Alachi from Amaji village, Umuoyoro community, Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State have been arrested by Eberi Police Division, Omuma LGA under Oyigbo Area command for killing and cutting throat of his wife, a mother of two children
EastwestReporters report.that a Community sources informed our reporter that the sad in incident occurred on Thursday 19, February,2026 when the suspect and his wife went to farm in their village, Amaji .Our source disclosed that a little argument ensued between the suspect and his wife on that fateful day and the suspect in the process used a kitchen knife to allegedly slit the throat of his wife.
We gathered that the scream by his wife before she gave up the ghost and died attracted other natives around the farm,who overpowered and apprehended the suspect.The incident, however threw the village into mourning and pandemonium.
We further learnt that the suspect was subsequently handed over to the Eberi Police Division incharge of the area.Security sources told our reporter that the suspect reportedly told Police investigators he does not know what came over him that made him commit the crime.
The Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command Chief Superintendent of Police,CSP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the incident.
CSP Koko said “yes I can confirm the incident.The suspect have been arrested and the Commissioner of Police has ordered a detailed investigation into the incident with a view to ensuring timely justice on the matter”.
Meanwhile a human rights advocate Prince Wiro has described the incident as the height of man inhumanity to man.
Mr Wiro who is also the National Coordinator of Centre for Basic Rights and Accountability Campaign noted that there is no justification for the action of the suspect. Mr Wiro called on the Police to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident to ensure Justice is served in the matter.
