Abubakar Kyari, Deputy Chairman (North) Takes Over As Acting Chairman of APC, Postpone NEC Meeting

The Crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC,  took a new dimension as Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Abubakar Kyari, has taken over the party’s National Working Committee, NWC.

Kyari’s takeover confirms the resignation of APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu over the weekend.

Adamu was reported to have tendered his resignation to the party’s National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

However, at about 10:40 am on Monday, the Deputy National Chairman led a team of seven other members of the NWC to a meeting in his office.

It was learnt that Kyari’s car was parked in the slot reserved for the National Chairman.

Around 11:20am, Omisore arrived at the secretariat and joined others in the meeting. The official car of the Deputy National Chairman was also reported to have been parked in the slot reserved for the National Chairman.

Those at the meeting included Mr. Kyari, the Deputy National Chairman (South) Emma Enukwu; National Vice Chairman (North West) Salihu Lukman; National Vice Chairman (North East) Salihu Mustapha; National Vice Chairman (North Central) Muazu Bawa; National Vice Chairman(South West) Issacs Kekemeke; National Vice Chairman (South East) Ejoroma Arodiogu and the Deputy National Secretary, Barrister Festus Fuanter.

Security around the national secretariat of the party, has been beefed up with those driving into Blantrye Street, where the party headquarters is situated, subjected to checks while passers-by are also stopped for questioning.

Meanwhile, the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings earlier scheduled to hold on July 18 and 19, 2023, have been postponed.

The party announced the postponement on its Twitter handle @OfficialAPCNg on Monday. Briefing journalists, acting National Chairman, Sen. Abubakar Kyari announced the postponement of the meetings earlier scheduled for 18th & 19th of July, 2023. A new date will be communicated in due course,” the tweet reads.
