Abuja Court Re-Instates Philip Shuaibu As Edo State Deputy Governor, Orders IGP To Restore His Security Details

he Federal High Court in Abuja has reinstated Philip Shuaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State.

The court has also directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to immediately restore his security details.

The Edo state House of Assembly impeached Shaibu in April ending a long-drawn drama between him and Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Shaibu’s impeachment followed the adoption of the report of a seven-man committee set up by the chief judge of Edo State Justice Daniel Okungbowa to investigate allegations of misconduct against the deputy governor.

Eighteen out of 19 members present at plenary voted for the impeachment of Shaibu while one abstained from the head count and voting process.
