Anambra Police Arrest Two Suspects With Stolen Motorcycle in Nnewi, Recover Pistol

Anambra State Police Command in a significant breakthrough in the fight against crime, arrested two suspects terrorizing Nnewi on May 1, 2025, recovering a foreign-made pistol, three live rounds of ammunition, and a suspected stolen motorcycle. The arrests were made by operatives attached to the Otolo-Nnewi Division at approximately 1:45 p.m., following credible intelligence that led to the busting of a criminal hideout in the area.

The suspects, identified as 21-year-old Ani Obinna and 43-year-old Okwudili Ezike, were apprehended after a hot pursuit by police operatives. During interrogation, the duo confessed to being members of a secret cult and a kidnapping gang operating in the region. They provided valuable information that the police are actively pursuing to dismantle the criminal network and apprehend other gang members.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring a secure environment for residents and businesses. “The Command has sustained security patrols in the area and remains dedicated to fostering a safe environment for meaningful work and businesses to thrive in the State,” he stated.
