On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu expressed his condolences to the government and people of Enugu State following a tragic fuel tanker explosion that occurred on Saturday.
He instructed traffic control agencies to implement additional measures aimed at preventing future fuel tanker explosions.
Tinubu’s message of condolence was conveyed in a statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled ‘President Tinubu Mourns Victims of Fuel Tanker Explosion, Condoles with Enugu State Government.’
The fuel tanker reportedly lost control and erupted in flames while navigating the Ugwu-Onyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
This incident comes just days after a similar tragedy in Niger State that claimed over 80 lives.
The President extended his sympathies to the families of the deceased and injured, praying for the souls of the departed and a swift recovery for those receiving medical treatment.
He urged all road users, especially fuel tanker operators, to exercise caution and adhere strictly to safety regulations.
Additionally, he directed relevant agencies to enforce traffic regulations and implement measures to prevent further fuel tanker explosions across the country.
