Court Grants Bail To 121 Youths Arrested Yesterday For Violence Protest- See Bail Conditions

The youths who were arrested during yesterday’s protest at the GRA near Government House in Port Harcourt; have been released.

The over 100 youths including the state chairman of National Youth Council of Nigerian NYCN, Chijoke Ihunwo were arrested by the Rivers state police command Old GRA Station for protesting and later transferred to state CID from where they brought them to court today

The Magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt presided by Chief Magistrate Gift Amadi,  on Wednesday granted bail to 121 youths who were arrested during a protest against the impeachment of the Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Majority leader Edision Ehie on Tuesday.

Our correspondent reports that charge preferred against the youths include, conspiracy, Causing Riot, Damaging the house gate of the Speaker, RSHA, Unlawful Assembly and Causing breach of public peace.

Chief Magistrate GIFT AMADI Esq while ruling after the suspects pleaded not guilty to the charge, granted all the 121 youths bail with 100 thousand naira in like sum and 20 sureties for all the suspects and the case adjourned to December 5, 2023.
