Court Remands Former LGA Chairman Of Ahoada East, 50 Others To Prison Custody Over Murder Of Police DPO

The high Court sitting in Port Harcourt presided over by JUSTICE SIKA HENRY APIRIOKU on Thursday remanded the former chairman of Ahoada East local government area CHIEF CASSIDY IKEGBIDI and over fifty suspects to Port Harcourt maximum correctional center over the alleged murder of late DPO of Ahoada East local government area SP BAKO AGBASHIM

The defendants were charge with different charge of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, cultism, robbery, kidnapping among others.

The defendants were charge with different charge as regard to their alleged various offences.

When the case was called, counsel to the first and other defendants, urged the court to grant bail to the defendants

But, the acting O C legal and prosecuting counsel, SP ENYIYEPERE SIKPI opposed to the bail, noting that the nature of the charge is too grievous for such oral order.

In his ruling, the trial judge, JUSTICE Sika Henry APIRIOKU ordered that the defendants be remanded at the port Harcourt correctional center and adjourned the case to the 21st of November, 2023 for plea and bail consideration

Meanwhile speaking to journalists outside the courtroom, the acting O C legal and prosecuting counsel, SP ENYIYEPERE SIKPI explained that the defendant can not be bailed at the first appearance in court due to the gravity of the charge preferred.

He further said he opposed to the oral application that such charge needs a proper application for bail.

While one of the counsel to the defendant SIR UCHECHUKWU IGBEGIRI stated that at the next adjourned date a proper bail application will be moved due to the nature of the charge

Recall that late DPO of Ahoada East Local government area, SP BAKO AGBASHIM was brutally murdered by gang of notorious Iceland cultists, led by one Gift David Okpara, aka 2Baba and his notorious gang. on the 8th of September, 2023
