The Civil Society Organization in Rivers State has called on the Inspector General of Police, the Presidency and the Comptroller General of the Correctional Centre to find a lasting solution to the issues of crime and criminality allegedly practicing in some Correctional Centres across the country.
This follows the alleged kidnap of a 12 years old girl, Favour Oluwaseyi in Obio/Akpor Local Government area of Rivers State, since on the 7th of August, 2024.
The ransom that was paid to release the victim was traced by men of the Nigeria Police Force to an inmate in Enugu prison.
The Chairman of the Civil Society Organizations in Rivers State, ENEFAA GEORGEWILL during a press briefing, said it is unfortunate that criminals now use Correctional Centres as hideout to perpetrate crime and criminality in the society
He said its very disappointing that all efforts to arrest the suspect by men of the Nigeria Police Force at the Correctional Centre in Enugu were resisted.
ENEFAA GEORGEWILL further called on the Nigeria Police to invite the friend to FAVOUR Oluwaseyi, who was seen on a CCTV camera accompanying her to the kidnapers on the faithful day.
Earlier, the father of the kidnap victim, Ogunsinasi Oluwaseyi called on Nigerians and Human Rights Activists to come his aide over the kidnap of his daughter since last year.
