Ogidi Town Union President General K!lled In Late Night Attack – Anambra Police Vows To Apprehend Culprits

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the killing of the President General of the Ogidi community and one other person in a violent incident that occurred on the evening of February 6, 2026.

The attack took place at the School Field in Ogidi and is alleged to be connected to the recent arrest and killing of a notorious cultist within the community.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives swiftly moved to the scene following reports of the attack and immediately commenced investigations

The Anambra State Police Command regrets the murder of the President General of the Ogidi community and one other person. The incident, which occurred on the evening of 6th February 2026 at the School Field, Ogidi, is allegedly linked to the recent capture and killing of a known notorious cultist within the community,” Ikenga stated.

He disclosed that investigators are currently working with eyewitness accounts and other available intelligence to track down those responsible for the killings.

“Police operatives have taken over the scene and investigations are ongoing. Efforts are being intensified to identify and arrest the perpetrators of this heinous crime,” he added.

The police spokesperson assured residents that the command is committed to bringing the culprits to justice, while urging members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies as investigations continue.

“Further developments will be communicated in due course,” Ikenga said

The incident has thrown the Ogidiy community into mourning and heightened concerns over cult-related violence in the area.
