Ogoni Youth Initiative Drags Buhari, CBN Gov, Minister Of Justice Malami To Court Over Withdrawal Limit

Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt will on the 17th of February, 2023 consider exparte application filled by Ogoni Youth Development Initiative against President MUHAMMADU BUHARI, Governor Central Bank of Nigeria, GODWIN EMEFIELE and Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, ABUBAKAR MALAMI.

Others defendants in the suit challenging the policy on new cash withdrawal of twenty thousand daily and five hundred thousand naira as weekly for individuals are Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, HAJIA ZAINAB SHAMSUNA AHMED and Director and Chief Executive Officer and Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, MODIBBO TUKUR.

When the matter came up in court, the presiding Judge, Justice MUHAMMED TURAKI asked plaintiff counsel, DAVID AMEH to put the defendants on notice on the exparte application for argument before adjourning till 17th of February, 2023.

Speaking to newsmen outside, counsel to plaintiff, DAVID AMEH explained why his client is in court and what transpired in court as well as the expectations on the next adjourned date.

The President of the Ogoni Youth Development Initiative, IMEABE SAVIOUR-OSCAR said the suffering that is expected if the policy is implemented formed their decision to approach the court.
