One Kidnapper Arrested As Rivers Police Rescue Popular Hotelier Abducted Since 19th Dec. 2023 Despite Paying N25m Ransom

The Rivers state Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim who was shot thrice by his abductors when he was attacked on December 19,2023.

Commissioner of Police in Rivers state, Olatunji Disu while briefing newsmen at Police Headquarters, Moscow Rivers state on Tuesday January 9,2024 Said the victim kidnapped was a popular hotelier who was shot three times before he was abducted.

CP Disu said a .total sum of 25million naira was paid to kidnappers by the family of the victim but they refused to release him.

The Rivers Police Boss disclosed that at that point the family informed the C41 intelligence unit. CP Disu stated that Officers had encounter with the kidnappers towards end of December but they escaped.

He said the kidnappers took the vehicle to panel beater to change the colour if the vehicle. CP Disu explained that on Tuesday 9, January,2024 officers of the command went to Agbonchia forest at Eleme Local Government Area, Rivers state where the victim was rescued and one of the kidnappers got injured while exchanging gun fire with the Police.

One AK 47,two magazine .Rx 350 and 330 vehicle were recovered from the suspects.

The CP said the kidnappers collects ransom in food flask. He assured that the Police are trailing other members of the gang with a view to arresting then.

The CP also revealed that injured kidnapper as well as the kidnapped victim is receiving treatment in the hospital.

The victim whose name was kept under wrap for security reasons told journalists in the hospital that he saw hell while in kidnappers den.
