Police Rescue Thief From Mob Attack After Breaking Into A Private Residence To Steal Scaffolding

The divisional police officer of Igode has successfully rescued and arrested four suspects from an irate mob following an alleged case of breaking and entering into a private residence in Igode.

At about 1154 hours on 19th March 2025, the police received a report from a resident of Gardens, Igando, Lagos State, stating that she had been alerted by a security personnel from Moro Community, that unknown individuals had unlawfully entered her home.

The suspects allegedly scaled the fence of the property and stole:
• One pumping machine valued at ₦120,000
• Iron scaffolding valued at ₦350,000

Upon discovery of the act, an enraged mob attempted to take the law into their own hands by attacking the suspects. However, officers from the Igode Police Division swiftly intervened, rescuing the individuals and preventing further violence.

So far, four suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident, and profiling of their involvement is ongoing. Those found not culpable will be exonerated in the course of the investigation.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and admitted to being in possession of stolen goods. Additional items, including cable wires and iron scraps, were also recovered.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to track other possible accomplices and recover additional stolen property.

The Ogun State Police Command strongly condemns mob attacks and jungle justice, reminding members of the public that all suspects are entitled to due process under the law. Residents are also urged to report criminal activities to the police and allow law enforcement agencies to handle such matters professionally.
