The Rivers state police command has explained that it will ensure a peaceful yuletide.

commissioner of police in Rivers state, CP OKON EFFIONG stated this today while addressing newsmen at the command headquarters The seasons are getting more interesting every passing day as we itch  towards Christmas, we have discovered a lot of criminal activities and in other not to give criminals a free ride, in the next 72 hours we may have to slow down the city, Mann in and exit points of port Harcourt and other major cities. in doing that we will not molest Nigerians, we will not trample upon their rights, The essence of it is that people will not just snatch car and the next 3 minutes they are out of town, we may have to slow every body down, the intelligence center is working and we will be monitoring all activities from the center, for patriotic Nigerians to contact us on our emergency numbers

he explained that the essence of narrowing down the town or slowing activities is not because we don’t want people to enjoy the seasons but because we want you to go into recreational centers and come back and meet your cars, and I pray it will not be misinterpreted from any quarters
