Rivers IPAC Condemns Alleged Assassination Attempt On Its Chairman Sensei Solsuema Osaro

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) strongly condemns the assassination attempt on our State Chairman, Sensei Solsuema Osaro, which occurred on Tuesday, 6th August 2024, at 11:52 pm. This heinous act is a clear indication of the cowardly act of reintroducing political violence in Rivers State, and we demand immediate action from the authorities.

Four gunmen invaded the family home of our Chairman, putting the lives of his loved ones at risk. This cowardly act is a threat to democracy and the rule of law in our state. We call on the Rivers State Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of this crime and bring them to book.

Sensei Solsuema Osaro and the Members of IPAC have been a strong advocate for peace, justice and good democratic governance in Rivers State. As the IPAC Chairman, he has always stood on the side of truth and justice, working tirelessly to ensure the success of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s Administration. His commitment to deepening democratic practices may have earned him many enemies, but we will not be silenced.

Politics should never be taken to the extent of attempting to assassinate fellow citizens. We urge all political actors to eschew violence and embrace peaceful means of resolving conflicts. The wellbeing of Rivers people should be our utmost priority, not personal or political interests.

We demand justice for our Chairman and his family. We will not rest until the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to justice. We call on all well-meaning citizens to join us in condemning this act and demanding action from our security agencies. Enough is enough!
