Tragedy struck Sunday night June 1,2025 as suspected cultists shot dead a taxi driver around Echue street/Illabouchi axis of Mile 2 Diobu,PortHarcourt Rivers State.
We learnt that the taxi driver whose identity is yet to be ascertained was killed during a shoot out between suspected BS(Blood Star) and D12(December 12) houses(branches ) of Deygbam cult groups along illabouchi,Mile 2 Diobu at about 11pm on sunday night.
We gathered that the corpse of the taxi driver was later retrieved by Police operatives from Azikiwe Police Division,Mile 2 Diobu,PortHarcourt who took the deceased to the station.
Our correspondent could not independent verify if the deceased belonged to any of the cult groups involved in supremacy battle on Sunday night.
Suspected BS and D12 houses of Deygbam cult groups had engaged in shoot out on Sunday night forcing business owners and traders to scamper for safety as the rampaging hoodlums also robbed passersby and shop owners.
When contacted by our reporter,the Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command,SP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the incident while adding that investigation is ongoing.
