Trigger Happy Policeman Shoots Man Dead At Elekehia Bar In Front Of His Wife And Children

The Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested a Police Officer, attached to the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 43 squadron Gombe state over the killing of one Mr Olafuro Peterside at Elekehia area in Port Harcourt on the 3rd of August, 2023.

Mr. Peterside who is  married with children was hit by a stray bullet from the gun of the officer at a popular bar in Elekehia.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the incident to newsmen at the Police Headquarters in Moscow Road in Port Harcourt.

SP Iringe Koko said the deceased man was with his wife and three children when the Police Officer was shot into air in response to an alarm raised by some persons that there were robbers around the area.

SP Koko stated that the bullet from the gun of the officer hit Mr Peterside who was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead.

She said the Police officer has been arrested while investigation is ongoing.
