Akpajo – Eleme Communal Clash, Police Restores Normalcy After One Person Killed Over Land Disputes

The Rivers state police command says Normalcy has been restored to the troubled areas between Akpajo and Eleme following a communal clash over land dispute

Earlier in the day a cryptic Security alert was forwarded to warn residents in the state to stay off the area as sounds of Gunshots filtered the area and men and women were seen running into their homes and bolting gates with no one telling by standers to take cover, later on fierce looking men where also seen parading the area brandishing matchete, amulets and local weapons when message filtered that an Eleme man allegedly killed an Akpajo man

The warning message Reads: ‘Akpajo is hot at the moment avoid the area” .
“A Man from Akpajo killed an Eleme man over land issue, so there is an ongoing rioting and shooting presently at Akpajo”

In Response the state police command says its aware of the situation and has deployed tactical teams to the area to quell the situation.

The short statements from the Police public relations Officer, Grace Iringe Koko says –

“The command is aware of the situation and a full-scale investigation has commenced.

Meanwhile, the CP has deployed Tactical Teams to the area and normalcy has been restored. As a matter of fact, people are going about their lawful businesses and activities.”
