Anambra Joint Security Raids Notorious Criminal Hideouts, Neutralizes 5 Member Armed Group

A joint security operation in Anambra has successfully razed down a notorious criminal camp in Ufuma, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The operation, which took place on January 14, 2025, at 12:30 pm, was carried out by a team comprising the Police, Military, and other Security Agencies.

The team targeted a suspected armed secessionist gang in Umugem road, Ufuma, and successfully neutralized five members of the armed group.

Some others escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds

. During the operation, the security team recovered four undetonated improvised explosive devices (IED), two AK47 assault rifles, one pump action gun, and one 75-volt battery, along with other incriminating items.

The success of the operation is attributed to the collaboration and coordination among the various security agencies.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, seeks greater cooperation from the people in the area to “take back the space” and deny criminal elements the opportunity to cause tension in the state.

The recent development is a precursor to Operation Udo Ga-Achi, a comprehensive security initiative announced by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, which is set to launch soon.
This operation will employ a multifaceted approach to tackling insecurity in Anambra State, marking a new dawn in the state’s security landscape .
