Armed Bandits Kill 8, Abduct Late Zamfara NUJ Chairman’s Children, Wife

Armed bandits have attacked the residence of late NUJ Chairman killed 2, abducted 8 including two children, wife of late journalist at Mayanchi town in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state.

A family member of late Ibrahim Aliyu Mayanchi, Chairman of NUJ legacy newspaper chapel, Mohammed Mayanchi disclosed to Nigerian tribune in Gusau, lamented that the incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday when the armed bandits besieged Mayanchi town.

According to the family source, the two children of the late journalist were abducted along with their mother (widow) and eight other persons in the area.

“This is to bring to your notice that two of our late colleague children (Ibrahim Mayanchi – Pioneer chairman of Legacy Chapel) were abducted yesterday around midnight along with their mother”.

“We are soliciting your prayers for their safe return”.

He stressed that large number of armed bandits yesterday attacked Mayanchi town where they killed two people and abducted about 11 including the Vigilante group chairman of Mayanchi.

When contacted for confirmation, the Zamfara state police command spokesperson ASP Yazid Abubakar said he would get back when he receives confirmation from the Divisional police officer (DPO) of Maru local government area.
