The newly elected President of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, alongside her Vice President (North East), Dorcas Philemon; Borno and Taraba States Chairpersons, Hajiya Fati Zanna and Dinatu Danjuma respectively stormed the office of the Hon. Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman A Tar, to say “Thank You”.
Hajiya Aisha said that they are at the ministry, where she has been working for decades to appreciate the support not only of her colleagues but that of the Commissioner, and unflinching support of the Borno State Governor Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, which culminated in her success at the polls. She was accompanied by members of her campaign team and other NAWOJians.
Speaking on behalf of the campaign team, the DG of the team, Mr. Gbenga, appreciated the support and encouragement of the Commissioner whom he described as a goal-getter and motivator. “In our last visit before going to the elections at Abuja, you charged us not to come back without winning and we are happy to let you know that, after 32 years Borno State has produced NAWOJ President under your stay and the able leadership of Prof. Zulum”, said Mr. Gbenga
.
In response, the Hon. Commissioner, Prof. Tar, congratulated Hajiya Aisha and her campaign team on a well deserved victory. Prof. Tar said, “Your victory as NAWOJ President calls for celebration considering the fact that Borno State had not achieved such a height in the past 32 years”.
Furthermore, the Commissioner charged women journalists in the state to join the crusade for social reorientation and work in tandem with the 25 year development plan of the state.
Highlights of the event were presentation of the certificate of return by Hajiya Aisha to the Commissioner and a group photograph.
