Breaking: Rivers Police Rescues 6 Month Old Baby Kidnapped By Male Neighbour In Mile1 Diobu From Enugu Based Buyer, 6 Suspects Arrested

Information reaching our news desk indicates that detectives attached to Mile 1 Divisional Police headquarters Diobu, PortHarcourt have rescued a six month old male child, Lucky Sunday kidnapped by one Mr Erica, the child’s parent co-tenant at 25 Aneken lane street Mile 2 Diobu on sunday 29th, September, 2024.

Recall that Mr Erica a goat meat seller, abducted the six month child belonging to his co-tenant and ran away to Uyo,Akwa/Ibom state.

Detectives from Mile 1 Police Division trailed the suspect Erica to Uyo, arrested him and brought him back to PortHarcourt two weeks ago.

Erica was said to have sold the baby for five hundred thousand naira. Sources disclosed to our news desk that, the prime suspect revealed to the Police during interrogation that the person who bought the child, took the child to Enugu State.

Following discrete investigation, the detectives attached to Mile 1 Police Division rescued the child on Sunday, 3rd November, 2024 and arrested the female buyer and four other suspects,bringing the total to six suspects who are currently detained at Mile 1 Police station,Diobu,PortHarcourt

The father of the child Anekan Sunday confirmed the rescue of the child and arrest of six suspects but did not give further details .

The Rivers State Police Command was yet to speak on the development as at press time.

Meanwhile a rights Advocate,Prince Wiro who is also the National Coordinator of Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability has commended the Police officers for their hard work and due diligence in rescue of the child and arrests of six suspects.

Mr Wiro said “we sincerely commend the officers attached to Mile 1 Police Division for rescue of the child. It shows high level of professionalism and due diligence.

“We think that the officers deserve an award from the Police Authority in the state.We equally urge the Police to arraign any of the arrested suspects found culpable during investigation in court, for justice to be served and seen to be served so as to serve as deterrent to others who may want to toil the same line of action”.
