Corrupt Lawmaker Farouk Lawan Sentenced To Prison For Fraud, Regains Freedom After 5 Years

former member of the House of Representatives, Farouk Lawan has been released from the Kuje Correctional Facility after serving a five-year jail term for corruption.

Mr Lawan who was known for his outspokenness when he was still a serving lawmaker, was release on Tuesday.

Lawan, who previously served as the Chairman of the House of Representatives’ probe panel on the oil subsidy regime, was sentenced to a total of seven years in prison for receiving a $3 million bribe from oil mogul, Chief Femi Otedola.
