Oh no. Who wouldn’t remember your name on its first mention?

HENRY NWOSU, THE MIDFIELD MAESTRO

My big brother 💙
I was one of the luckiest ones who enjoyed your love, generosity, care and older brother figure when we were at St Finbarr’s Catholic College in Lagos State.

I didn’t for once hesitate in telling anyone about how you pampered me with the meaty and delicious meat-pies and 7up sold in school back in the days.

When going for training matches inside our school bus, need i mention how many times you carried me on that your laps with those healthy muscles that powered most of the goals you scored for St Finbarr’s college and the Nigeria National Soccer teams; both the Junior and Super Eagles ⚽️

I remember how excited you were each time you sighted me walking towards your hostel or towards you anywhere on the school premises or even at St Dominic’s Catholic Church, Yaba Lagos State. You never grew tired of me or my incessant visits after school hours.

Your excitement was so contagious that it made other players to also like me and my young innocent presence around them. I was spoilt rotten by you all, including Stephen Keshi, Paul Okokwu, Wakilu Oyenuga, Olumide Banjo, Ahmed our goalkeeper, Samson Siasia and others whose name i couldn’t readily remember at the time I was writing this short tribute in remembrance of you.

A few years ago when your illness first went viral and attracted well wishers all over world, my classmate, Ifeanyi Nwachukwu and I sure did our best to raise the much funds we could muster for you. All in a bid to try and pay you back for all you did for us back in the days.

It wasn’t enough to commensurate and compensate for your kindness. So we had thought. We wished we could have done more, nevertheless you accepted our meagre efforts with grace 👑

I will write ✍️ a book 📖 about how wonderfully talented you were on the soccer field and how unconditionally generous you were even at your weakest point.

May your soul rest in peace 🙏
