Phone Thief Knocked Down By Moving Car Sustains Spinal Cord, Broken Skull Injuries

A yet-to-be-identified man has been reportedly knocked down by a moving vehicle after snatching a phone from a woman in Kano.

The state police command spokesman, Abdullahi Kiyawa, who confirmed the incident on his Facebook handle on Sunday evening, said the suspect was hit by the vehicle along Zoo Road.

“I just received a report from Zoo Road that someone took a woman’s phone, but he was knocked down by a moving vehicle. We immediately took him to the hospital,” Mr Kiyawa said.

Hours later, the police spokesman disclosed that the suspect has been evacuated to the hospital, adding that he had sustained spinal cord and head injuries.

“After we took the man who stole the phone to the hospital, he was conscious but his spine was injured, and his head cracked. And now the hospital is considering taking him into the intensive care unit, ICU,” Mr Kiyawa said.
