Police Arrests 5 OSPAC Vigilante Members Over Shooting Of Native To Death In Emohua Rivers Community

At least five members of OSPAC(local vigilante) in Egbeda, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State were arrested by the Police for allegedly one Oregi, a native of Omuipo community in Egbeda community to death.

We learnt that the deceased and other Youth were marching round the community to protest against the choice of a particular Community Liaison Officer(CLO) to a construction company handling the Egbeda-Elele road construction.

Our source disclosed that the Youth were reportedly warned by the local vigilante not to embark on the protest before they(Youth) commenced the protest.

We learnt that while the protest was ongoing, some of the OSPAC members intercepted the peaceful protesters at Egbeda round about and urged them to disperse but the Youth refused on the ground that they have right to peacefully express their opinion.

The source disclosed that an OSPAC member popularly known as Muffi said to be their commander got infuriated and allegedly opened fire on the protesters resulting to the death of Oregi while one other person was said to have sustained gunshot injuries.

It was gathered that the Egbeda Police Division responded on time to arrest the prime suspect, aka Muffy and four other members of OSPAC. Some unidentified Youth were also said to have stormed Omordu community and burnt the house of Muffy, the OSPAC Commander.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko was yet to respond to enquiries on the incident as at Press time.
