President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate redeployment of eight serving permanent secretaries across key ministries and government departments in what officials describe as a significant shake-up of the federal bureaucracy
The redeployments were announced in a circular issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and signed by the Head of Service, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, on Thursday.
The directive, referenced HCSF/3065/V.I/228, was addressed to top government officials, including the Chief of Staff to the President, cabinet ministers, service chiefs and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, highlighting the broad administrative implications of the redeployment.Nigerian fraud reporting
According to the circular, the redeployments take immediate effect and involve key changes across strategic sectors of government.
Among the most notable postings, Kambari Mahmud Adam has been moved from the Federal Ministry of Environment to assume duty as Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
Similarly, Danjuma Mohammed Sanusi has been redeployed from the Special Services Office in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) to the Federal Ministry of Finance where he will oversee Special Duties.
The circular also indicated plans aimed at ensuring leadership continuity in two critical ministries.
In the case of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Ukaire Binyerem Chigbonwu from the Career Management Office in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation will proceed to the ministry to “understudy” the current Permanent Secretary, Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam.
Likewise, Muhammed Muktari Yawale from the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy has been redeployed to the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology to understudy the Permanent Secretary, Philip E. Ndiomu.
Officials say the arrangement suggests a deliberate strategy by the administration to groom senior civil servants for leadership roles, particularly in complex and technology-driven sectors.
Other redeployments include Rimi Nura Abba moving from the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to the Federal Ministry of Steel Development, while Isokpunwu Christopher Osaruwanwem will move in the opposite direction from Steel Development to Industry, Trade and Investment.
In addition, Salihu Aminu Usman has been transferred from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to the Environment Ministry, while Ibrahim Abdulkarim Ozi moves from the Special Duties Office in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to the Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy.
The circular directed all affected officials to complete their handover and takeover processes on or before March 13, 2026.
Walson-Jack urged all parties involved to ensure a smooth and seamless transition to avoid disruptions in the operations of the affected Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
