Rivers State Govt Kicks Off MNCHW, Offers Robust One Stop Health Care Services To Pregnant, Nursing Mothers, Children Free Of Charge

The Rivers  state Primary Health Care Management  has begun Its second round of Maternal Newborn Child Health Week {MNCHW} which kick started today the 11th of December 2023 to 15th December 2023.

Speaking at Radio  Program the State Health Educator Dr. Babbo Diana on behalf of  Director Community Health services in press release  said  ‘Rivers state primary health care management board has opened wide  its a facilities across the twenty three local government area for women and children to enjoy the services offered by the board in conjunction with World Health, National primary health board  with various medical commodities to ensure  no woman is left out this week  2nd round MNCHW

She said the project, and the interventions are  available to children under 5yrs, women of Child bearing age and pregnant women free of charge.

She also noted that services to be offered Includes: Vitamin A supplementation, Deworming, Nutritional screening for children, Free antenatal registration and Prevention of mother~ to~ child transmission of HIV{PMTCT}, Malaria prevention in pregnancy, free delivery, Family planning services, Cervical cancer screening, Routine immunization, free Birth registration for children under 5yrs, Health Education on key Household practices.

Outreach to schools and Religious houses using Vitamin A supplementation and Deworming drugs, within the LGAs and other hard to reach areas will also happen within the week.

She urged women to spread this  message to enable as many women and children benefit from our ‘ONE STOP SHOP’ in this week robust  health care services. “Awareness is key to acceptance of these services.”
