According to sources present at the event, Governor Soludo had specifically requested that the moment be off-camera and off-the-record before he began dancing.
Most people in attendance complied with the request, but somehow, the video still surfaced online.
“It was a surprise to the governor that the video leaked,” said a source. “He had asked everyone to put their cameras away and keep the moment private. We’re still investigating how the video got out.”
The video, which went viral, showed Governor Soludo dancing with his aides during the state’s 33rd anniversary celebration
While some praised the governor’s lighthearted moment, others criticized him for engaging in frivolity amidst the state’s challenges, including insecurity.
Investigations revealed that the leaked video was linked to the sacked ABS Managing Director with alleged ties to APC.
He was subsequently sacked, with more people expected to show the way out as investigation continues.
The governor’s press secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, had defended the incident, describing it as a moment of spontaneity and camaraderie with his aides.
Aburime explained that the governor’s dance was a genuine moment of connection with his constituents and culture, not a distraction from the state’s issues.
He emphasized Governor Soludo’s approachable and down-to-earth leadership style, which has fostered trust and civic engagement.
A source who attended the function said, “The governor’s action was not meant for public consumption. It was a private moment meant to bring levity and joy to the occasion.
“We’re disappointed it was leaked and are taking steps to hold those responsible accountable.”
