A prophet drowned and was later torn apart by crocodiles while being baptised in a South African river.
According to the UK’s Daily Mail, the victim’s remains were discovered on Sunday, January 21, surrounded by crocodiles in Limpopo’s Olifants River.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a police spokesperson, said the late preacher was praying with two others when he suddenly encountered problems and perished in the crocodile-infested river.
Ledwaba’s words: “It is suspected that he was attacked by crocodiles during the baptism ceremony.”
The other two men attempted to locate the victim but were unable, according to Times Live. However, his remains were apparently discovered some days later.
Crocodiles can be among the deadliest animals on the earth. Every year, hundreds of people are killed by reptiles in Africa, with many more likely to go unreported.
The most frequent crocodile in South Africa is the Nile crocodile, which lives in freshwater settings across 26 African countries. The African Nile crocodile is the most dangerous and lethal of all crocodile species.
