Man, Driver Remodeling Father’s House After 2022 Flood Impact Shot Dead By Suspected Cultist In Ahoada West LGA

Gunmen suspected to be cultists shot two persons dead on Saturday night, June 24, along Ubeta Owube Road in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers, we have learnt.

Our source disclosed that the driver of the vehicle and the owner of the building material was on their way to Owube community in the LGA when the gunmen ambushed and shot them dead.

In a telephone interview with our reporter, Major Elleh, a native of Ubarama community in Ahoada West, who is also a former Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman said

He got a reliable information yesterday (June 24,2023) that two guys were shot dead in Owube community a neighboring community to his own community which is about 1Kiliometres drive to his community .

Mr Elleh said one of the persons shot dead his name is Confidence Chalikobi who happens to live in Porthacourt.

“His father’s house was brought down during the flood. He bought some building material for repair of the house and he was gunned down by this hoodlums and the other person a is from Elemechi Ogbogu, the driver of the vehicle all in Owube community .

“I call on stakeholders and the LGA Chairman to give necessary support to the new Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and other security agencies in the area to clampdown on criminal elements ” Mr Elleh said.

Recall that CP Emeka Nwonyi few days upon assumption of office redeployed Divisional Police Officers of Akinima Police Division and Ahoada Police Division in Ahoada West and East LGAs respectively and brought in two new DPOs, few days after assumption of office, a strategy that reduced the activities of cultists and other criminal elements in the area.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the incident adding that investigation is ongoing
