Uniben Students Block High, Protest Power Outages For 3 Weeks Running

Students of the University of Benin have taken to the streets to protest a power outage that has plagued the campus for over three weeks.

The students blocked the outbound route of the Lagos-Benin Expressway, as of Wednesday morning, causing disruption to traffic.

As the protest gained momentum, reporters were chased away by the demonstrators.

The students described the stress caused by the outage as “unbearable”.

The protest has forced all vehicles to use the inbound route of the expressway, while the main gate of the school remains shut, as of press time.
